Wristwear

The wristwatch.

A staple in every mans accessory department ,and should be the only 'jewerly' a man should need.

These masterpieces are timeless in design and are just wonderful to the eye.

Here are just a few of my favorite watches for the moment .

Patek Philippe 'Calatrava' - $22,400
Panerai 'Luminor Marina' $5800
Hublot 'Big Bang' $10,800
Chopard 'Mille Miglia' $16,060
Cartier 'Rotonde'$34,100

Wallets & Money Clips

A gentleman's accessory should be of good quality and last a lifetime.

I personally don't like carrying a wallet , so instead i opt for a slimmer credit card case for cards, id's etc , I usually rotate between 3 cases to reduce wear and also depending on the affair.
Most men carry wallets which i usually notice are very bulgy and stick out of your trouser or jean pockets and are a mess, keep it simple and organized with these great looking credit card cases , for cash get a nice looking silver money clip. Invest in something of better quality .

Cartier sterling & onyx money clip $285.00
Dior Homme sterling money clip $125.00

Montblanc case $150.00
Hermes calfskin case $250.00
Ralph Lauren Alligator case $325.00
Dior Homme case $198.00
Alligator wallet $250-500

Summer footwear

Some great foot attire for the summer.

Quote of the day

"Personal style is about having a sense of yourself and of what you believe in, which is basically self-confidence. When you have that confidence, you can wear whatever you want and project something personal about who you are and how you feel. Dressing, then, can be an adventure. You dress for the role you are playing on a particular day."
-Ralph Lauren

SUMMER NECKWEAR

So summer is here and if your looking for a little bit of a change from your usual neckwear here are a few things to change things up a bit and still be subtle about it without yelling for attention.
Stay away from dark patterned colors and patterns (muted paisleys and earththtones)
go for a bold rep stripe or patterned tie in bright summer colors and navy's .

The silk knit tie happens to be a summer favorite for me at the moment, as well as a slim madras or bright plaid colored tie in a cotton or linen fabric.
Another item up for discussion is the Ascot.
It takes a little confidence and edge to pull it off , but worn the right way it can give the wearer a look of sophistication and elegance
" Extremely fashionable in the nineteenth century, ascots are usually worn in formal settings as an alternative neck wear to bow and neck ties. After being worn in the sixties by artists and poets of the counterculture, there are more options today."

1
Choose the fabric carefully taking into consideration how the ascot will be worn. Wear a silk ascot with a lightweight shirt. Wear a cashmere ascot with a heavy suit.
Step2
Don't match the ascot to your outfit. Spruce up the ensemble with a colorful ascot. Contrasting colors look best. If wearing a white shirt, opt for a bright bold color. If wearing a dark shirt, wear an ascot that is white or cream in color. If wearing a dull suit or jacket, pair with brightly colored neck wear.
Step3
Tie the ascot in the same way as a straight tie. This is only one option. It is usually worn outside the shirt in this way. It is probably worn best like this for a dressy, but not quite formal occasion. Wear it with a sport coat and button down shirt. Or even with a polo (although it must be a shorter version)
Step4
Wear the ascot tied in a simple knot and worn similar to a scarf. Freddie in the original Scooby Doo mysteries wore a red ascot like this. This is the most casual way to wear an ascot. It was very popular for young men in the late sixties. The ascot can be tucked into the shirt or untucked. Pair it with a crew neck sweater or button down shirt open at the neck. For a complete look, pair it with a pair of shades or a cool hat.
Step5
Use a traditional ascot knot for the most formal way to wear an ascot. It finishes with the ends crossed over in front and held together with a pin. This was the popular way to wear it in the nineteenth century. It would look quite striking this way. For the most formality wear a black or white tie with a tuxedo.
Step6
Buy a pre-tied or clip on if tying it is too tricky. They can be purchased in either style at most formal wear and department stores.
Step7
Wear a pin to hold the ascot in place. This is also an opportunity for further decoration. Make sure the pin is not too flashy. The idea is to add even more elegance to the look and not make it ridiculous.

Sun Eyewear

Over the weekend i was out in the countryside of Long Island most of you know as "The Hamptons", i had a discussion about sunglasses with one of my buddies and how its not that easy to find a good pair.
I tend to lean towards the straight lines and classic sunglasses these days made from plastic since the metal frames are hard to maintain and tend to bend out of shape easier. If you tend to like an aviator these are the ones i like , they also come in a range of different shade lenses and color frames.
These sunglasses will keep you looking cool from the beach right down to your business suit or casual sunday brunch.
Here are just a few of my favorite sunglasses for this summer.
In order from top to bottom
Blublocker Aviator $25.00
Ralph Lauren Purple Label Aviator $375.00
Ray Ban Aviator $150.00
Persol $225.00
Oliver Peoples "Hollis" $250.00
Ralph Lauren Purple Label Aviator in Plastic $375.00
Ralph Lauren Purple Label $350.00
Ralph Lauren Purple Label $375.00
all of these are available in several colors

Welcome

Welcome to my blog , i will be using this blog for fun and to update you on my personal insight and recommendations on an array of subjects.
Today in New York it is slightly mild out and to welcome the warm weather i am wearing an indian madras shirt with button down collar , a silk crest patterned navy blue tie and a navy blue single breasted blazer , jeans and brown leather loafers without socks. A few things you can pick up here- wear a dark colored jacket to soften the bright colored shirt and a patterned tie to break up the lines on the busy shirt , paired with a nice dark denim and sock-less loafers for an effortless look that can work just about anywhere in case your planning on going out after work or even to dinner.
I know its small potatoes but there is more to come.
